This remote control Lamborghini Reventon by Maisto is a beautiful and well performing 1:24 ratio model of the original Reventon!
I was shopping online for my boy’s birthday and was putting together a great list on amazon for my wife to see (and approve or disapprove). It was the choice of this remote control car or the really amazing Dark Knight Tumbler Batmobile 1:16 by Tyco.
There were several items on the list with multiple choices such as music instruments and educational toys, along with the RC Batmobile and the Lamborghini Reventon. The Dark Knight Tumbler had a manufacturer recommendation age of 5, but amazon had it recommended for 3 and up, which I used as a basis to convince my wife. Unfortunately, it was no dice! The reviews stated that the toy was big and fun, but made by “adult boys” with significant others complaining about scuffed up walls. At about $68, I was willing to accept my second choice (not that I had a choice)!
The remote control Lamborghini Reventon by Maisto is a great remote control car! It’s a bit small at about 8 inches long, and as one of the amazon reviewers claim, the headlight and tail lights don’t actually light up as in other models, you really can’t beat the detail and performance for the price. I actually bought it for about $26 and see that its down to about $23 with eligible free shipping, so the price was perfect for what you get.
In addition to the vehicle, you get the 9V battery along with 3 AA batteries (even though the description claims it is not included). I did buy extra batteries in anticipation of the lack of inclusion and was glad the batteries were included. But because of the long play and use of energy, both the 9V and the AA batteries needed replacement rather quickly.
In looks, the Lamborghini Reventon is truly luxurious and attractive. Seeing one of the real ones live must be amazing, and having a 1:24 model was really cool. Our boy immediately loved it! Though the description doesn’t list the car’s appropriate age group, I noticed that at 3, he was able to get the car to go front and back, but had some difficulties getting the concept on the remote control to turn the wheel, but he still had fun. I would suggest 4 would have been a more appropriate age.
Still, playing with him was fun when I had the controls as he would chase it and replace it on the floor. Then we’d take turns where I would chase it and laugh. When he got bored, our 11 year old girl couldn’t help herself and just played with it for almost an hour. Then she and I took turns playing with the Lamborghini Reventon.
Some things that limit its enjoyability is its range, which is in the neighborhood of 20 feet, possibly even a little less as the batteries go. Battery life is also a concern, as it diminishes performance as they get spent. Lastly, it’s best enjoyed indoors as it is a smaller remote control car and very low to the ground. I did take it outside as you can see in the video, and was surprised that it did better than expected even around fallen acorns, but range and control are better indoors.
For the price, this is an attractive and excellent remote control Lamborghini Reventon. The boy gets better at controlling it everytime he plays, and the whole gang comes for a turn once anybody turns it on for play.
I’d still consider the Batmobile, but have been pleased with this purchase and maybe I’ll see if I can make a better sales pitch to my wife for his next birthday!!
