Ladybug Costumes and Accessories

Ladybug costumes are not at all easy to find for little girls, at least not good ones. But sometimes if you look hard enough you can find a little gem like the one my wife found for our 18 month old girl.







It was of course my wife whom had been planning our kids costume ideas for over a month before Halloween arrived, be every once in a while she made me feel important by asking for my opinion. She found this Huggable Ladybugs Costume on amazon.com, and while it was super cute and adorable, I loved that it was only $19.99! I’ll admit that that was my first and immediate impression so I told her that this selection was my favorite!

But she knew what she was doing. Sometimes she’ll find the perfect costume at the perfect price and accent it further with additional accessories, and when the costume came it with a Black Ladybug Tutu , Ladybug Rain Boots and a Ladybug Plush Basket , I said, “Wow honey, you got a great deal!” It wasn’t until I started putting together this review that it was four separate items that she bought.

The Huggable Ladybug Costume comes with the ladybug jumpsuit, the detachable wings and the matching headpiece antennae. It is available in sizes 12 to 18 months and is made of polyester.



The Ladybug Rain Boots range from $19 to $29 depending on size, and the smallest are still a bit too large for our little girl. They are real rain boots and not part of a costume necessarily so they will become useful and practical, or at least that’s what I’m trying to convince myself.

The Ladybug Plush Basket and the Black Ladybug Tutu are really accents that were cute for the costume and will eventually become something fun to play with.

It happens every year that our kids get a little sick from some ear infection or other bacterial illness, but this time it came on Halloween. Our girl was feeling a little better than our boy, and since he went out trick or treating for a bit, I felt she should go out as well.



It was getting dark so we hurried to put on the costume and accessories and I finally ran out with her for a quick stroll. She was so excited about her little ladybug costume and especially her ladybug basket. She kept going on with this tiny little monologue about ladybugs. Every other word was, “lay bug” over and over, it was so adorable.

She would continue with this conversation until a male adult would open the door in response to our trick or treating, then she would start crying uncontrollably until they dropped in the candy and closed the door. Immediately thereafter, with tears still streaming down her little face, she continued to talk of ladybugs and general sweetness.

I felt bad that my wife spent such a long time looking through dozens of ladybug costumes to find the perfect one and the kids were a little sick on Halloween, but the costume was really cute, our daughter enjoyed it and loved it very much, she had time to go out for a bit and we’ll use it to play dress-up real soon, possibly this weekend!
